It is an online English only game, that started in 2020 running through WhatsApp, Google Drive, Skype, and other media, for young adults and adults who are learning EFL. It does not substitute lessons in any way or form.
In this Desert Island Game, there are 3 groups of avatars fighting one another and trying to survive: the Marooned, the Pirates and the Cannibals.
The game is a website PWA app, where points are earned through doing tasks together. Each group or team works collaboratively to solve tasks with special emphasis on listening and speaking skills, gaining points and advantages.
It is a language experience, in which you interact with others in English through an adventure. Interacting allows you to improve your English fluency with special focus on listening and speaking activities.
You will be able to join multilingual groups and will have to collaborate with them in the tasks your group is given. It is flexitime, with no strings attached. You play when you can.
The flow of communication is down-up as groups attempt to improve their fluency as well as other aspects of their language learning. And, at the same time, up-down as the stronger help the weaker gamers improve, all the while reflecting on their own use of English.
The whole game plays around improving your English, by expanding it through experience. Each team works, by using English as a means of communication, towards earning points and winning the game.
The activities are coined attacks, bombs, traps, etc, through B2/C1 tasks aimed at improving fluency through collaborative, interactive teamwork.
It is your call. Each gamer stipulates how much time and which tasks they can do according to the dynamics within their own schedule and limitations.
In this kind of game, all the gamers are either working toward Cambridge First, CAE, Proficiency or equivalent IELTS. Plus, most are either doing their BA, MA or PhD and/or working adults.
